Alien explorers

I wasn't in this dream, but I was watching it happen from a distance, somewhat above the scene.

I see a team of explorers set up camp in an alien, barren environment, maybe another planet. Four of the explorers are unique from the others in that they participate together in synchronized acrobatic fitness and meditation movements. In the midst of an impressive routine, one of the athletes looks in my direction; his eyes open wide in terror. (I don't think he sees me.) I watch as over the "bottom edge" of the picture, he and his companions are bodily invaded by a pink tubelike, plantlike, squidlike organism. All of them are pierced and screaming and are turned into trees.( I couldn't help them any more than one can help a character in a movie.) As I backed away into a more distant aerial view, I noticed that the entire exploration party and its equipment had been changed into trees and strange rock formations. An eerie voice over all sang in an ethereal tune, “They use up all who come and make them one with them.” Pretty creepy. I’m glad I wasn’t a character in that scenario.
